She was struggling with dementia for years and she is around 90. She was already very weak (a ghost of herself) and we expected she wouldn't make it this winter.
My mother's health deteriorated rapidly the last few hours. Provided with her old age and existing condition, we decided not to put her into further torture. Let it happen naturally.

She died on the 3rd of February. Friday we held the funeral. A second time for the family on the very same date (3rd of January for 'grandpa').
I find comfort that she passed full of days and now she is not suffering anymore.
Difficult times back then in WWII (and the Greek civil war) with the famine (where many didn't make it). My parents were good honest and hard working people and so were their families. They always helped the hungry those days and her family was even hiding for a few days a Jewish family. It is a shame to the society that in recent years only a few share those values.
